Anybody have experience with 426 max wedge crossram manifold under hoodheating. Just fired this baby up, and with only 8-10 inches of hood clearance, an worried if exhaust heat will discolor or burn paint of hood? The heat off these manifolds radiates alot of heat well after shut down. Hate to wrap them or is a heat shield needed. I know they never came that way. Would like your thoughts. Craig This is on a 64 polara 500 with the Max Wedge scoop with fresh air inlets.

I don't know what car you have but I never had a problem with my max wedge 62 Dart. It had even less clearance than a friends 63 Polara.
No experiance with a Fury

Never had a problem with my Max Wedge '64 Belvedere.

If you're worried about damaging the paint you could run some heat barrier sheets on the hood for driving and remove them for shows or whenever you don't want to look at them.

Or I will trade yours for a set of stock log manifolds and you will never have to worry about the heat issue again

I'll even pay shipping both ways

That's a DEAL

I appreciate all the help. Worrying over details is in my nature, but those manifolds take forever to cool, compared with headers. I had even considered an electric fan on thermostat that might keep air moving on shut down. About the manifold swap, NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! WAYYYYYYYY! Thanks Mopar Friends Craig Will post my car in a couple days.

You could always have them ceramic coated on the INSIDE to help reduce the heat outside

What Runner x2. Just kidding about the trade.

Great looking car and engine compartment....

That would look great with a ss grille, but still looks bitchin' nonetheless.

That is the correct grill for a max wedge car. Car looks good.
