How can I rustproof horn ring?

I got my 69 deluxe horn ring looking like new. So, how do I keep it from rusting? I don't want to have to remove it again just to shine it up.

I didnt think that was something that needed rust proofing. Lee ot out of the elements

It was rusty when I received it; primarily on the sheet metal spokes (inner part). The ring cleaned up nicely. Naval Jelly cleaned the rust off the spokes. I don't know how it was stored all these years. But it will be out of the elements from now on.

Anyone try Metal Rescue Dry Coat?

What about clear coat paint?

clear lacquer spray in a rattle can. comes in different finishes too, flat, semi-gloss and gloss. i think krylon makes it.
