Pump gas 440/512 with the following components:
Eagle Rotating assembly(4.25 4340 crank, 7.1 4340 rods w/chevy pin and rod journal, perfect circle file fit rings, and SRP 2618 pistons)
Stealth heads w/Harland Sharp rockers
XR286HR Comp Cams hydraulic roller
Edelbrock CH4B dual plane intake
Moroso pan and pick up
Static 11:1 compression ratio
Holley 850 cfm mechanical secondary
Hooker 5209 headers w/2" primary tubes and 3.5" collector

I figure the combination to be good for at least 575 horsepower. What do you all think?

would like to know smore specs on the cam but im thinking 595 hp.

for 575-595hp the heads will need work and i don't think the intake will flow enough air thru good heads.

Are the heads ported. If not 550hp,if they are ported well over 600hp with an intake upgrade.I wouldn't be worried about hp.The torque it will make will more than offset what it lacks in hp.The torque level will be well above 600ftlbs.

The moparmuscle magazine did a intake comparison sometime ago with a 12.5:1 compression 446 with ported 915 heads and a solid lift camshaft. The best flowing dual plane that was used in the comparison was a Performer RPM and second was the CH4B. I have the CH4B but have been thinking about a Indy dual plane since everyone keeps saying that it will support the needs of a 500"+ motor. The Indy manifold is about an inch shorter than the Performer RPM which may be better for my 66' B.

moparpoor,
The heads are ported. I know what you mean about torque. We just dynoed a 440/500" motor with Indy EZ heads, solid roller, three deuce electronic fuel injection, and 11.2:1 compression. On pump gas the motor made 638 TQ @ 4900 RPM and 640 HP before 6000 RPM.

I would think with a good single plane intake it would be 600 hp area. The cam is on the lower end for lift, but you have a lot of Cubes.... and good compression.
Current intake will probably hold it back a good amount, keeping it in the upper half of the 500 HP range. Throwing a dart I would think 580?

With that kind of ci I see no need for a dual plane intake. If you are going to use a dual plane, get the indy. They have made serious power with them.I run a 451 with Indy ez with a full cnc maxwedge port at 11.2cr and 640 roller and it makes a touch over 600 according to weight and et.Using a single plane indy intake I gasket matched and holley hp1000.It needs a much larger tire to run on the street. This combo should be real soft on the bottom end,its not.512 with that intake will be a stump pulling, axle snappin, tire smoker.Utilize the head flow with an intake and carb to match. With that compression, maxwedge port ez head, and custom solid lift cam that ci motor will make 700hp give or take a few hp.I really like the 4.25 stroke motors with the 7.1 rod.I will be putting one in the 64 for a brkt motor.I have seen guys make over 800hp with indy ez maxwedge port with the same ci short block. You have a great short block that can be built in many ways to make a ton of power. You just have to decide were you want the power.

moparpoor, what rpm are these engines turning with the 4.25 stroke and 7.1 rod? just asking. may go that route also on my new motor.

I can tell you I run the Indy dual plane intake on my 493 and I really like it. I have Indy EZ heads with Max Wedge ports and a solid flat tappet thats 264 & 270 @ .050 and .634 lift with 1.6 rockers. And I run 10.6 comp with quench as I run on 92 or 93 pump. I only raced it once and made 2 passes with an 850 DP and it was to lean but still ran 11.04 @ 121 thru the complete exh system. Its in my 63 which weighs 3700 lbs and I am sure it will run easy 10's when I jet some more. I would bet at least 10.70's with a bigger carb. My point is the Indy dual plane works very good for me and has great pull at any rpm range up to 6500. Ron

They are making 700hp around the 6700rpm range a little less or more depending on the build and hp requirements.
