Well, it is time to upgrade my drive-shaft. The one I am running now is from the motorhome my engine came from, shortened on the shop floor with the pinion end from a my 74 satellite attached (7260) size. I Did not get it balanced but it seems ok, but perhaps this is why my output bushing on my 727 is worn out, along with an oil leak, lol. This is one of the reasons I haven't boosted over about 550hp, another reason is I am still using the stock torque converter, worried it will balloon and wear out the thrust bearing in my engine.

-So I am planning on getting a torque converter.
-I have a trans go 2 kit installed on my transmission.
- I have a rebuild kit for my 727 but the tranny still seems good, so may just change the seals, and tail shaft bushing.
- wondering if I should change the governor in the tailshaft? I have a ratchet shifter but sometimes it would be nice to drop a gear more reliably when I step on it in drive.

So I guess my main question is what type of driveshaft should I get for say 700hp. Max engine rpm 6500. This is a street car but one day I may go to the track with slicks. I have an 8 3/4 rear end with 3.23 gears and a tru-trac, so until its upgraded I won't boost up to 700hp.

Summit has good shipping to Canada so I would prefer to order through them.

Thinking of upgrading my pinion yoke to 1350.

I am assuming this is the transmission yoke that would come with the drive shaft.

Will the cast steel strange yoke's be strong enough?

Regards

Good choice, but you need to order that from strange directly. When you order the tech will ask your application and make a recommendation in size then. Make sure to tell him your future plans for the motor, personally my motor is about 700-750hp and I have a 4.5” aluminum driveshaft.

Nice price on the driveshaft.
I have the 3.5" Mark Williams Chrom-Moly driveshaft with the 1350 U-Joints, but it cost $498 plus the trans yoke of $204.

Give Cass aka Dr. Diff a call. He will get you set up with what you need. I have bought a couple of driveshafts from him now and am quite satisfied with the results. He has them made by Strange and shipped direct to you. Cheaper than buying directly from Stange also.

Ive been looking at the carbon fiber ones but damnnnnn there expensive but read a lot of good things on them

I've had good luck with Strange. Bought 2, one of them was from Dr. Diff. He knows a lot about mopar suspension and driveline and is great to deal with. Prices are reasonable.

One driveshaft was for 650 hp (approx) Barracuda,
the other was for my (almost) 600 hp Charger.

Bought them both to go with rear end upgrades from 8 3/4's to S60's.

I run 900hp through a 4" aluminum Dyno Tech shaft. 500 passes and counting.

I’ve seen some people take an aluminum driveshaft out of a truck and get the ends needed for their set up. Seems to work just fine.

That’s the hot ticket right there!

Call Cass at DoctorDiff and let him set you up with the right one. I just got one for my BB Duster. It is a work of art.

These guys built me an aluminum driveshaft with both yokes for just shy of $700. I live in East Van and they picked up my old 'shaft for measurements then dropped off the new one. Great to deal with.

I called pats and they suggested a 3.5 inch mild steel driveshaft would be good, price was $475 cad.

Talked to dr.diff, good guy. He said the 3 inch chromoly street strip driveshaft would be more than fine. Price is good but does not ship to Canada directly from Strange, may get a drop box south of the border so I can drive across the line to pick up car parts, just need a passport now, or enhanced drivers licence.
