I need to change the bulb in reverse light under the dash. How the heck does it come out?

it peels out just like the rear side marker lights do

I don't follow,
the reverse light in the dash?

4spd cars had a light in the dash, just to the left of the ashtray, to tell knuckleheads when they were in reverse.

This knucklehead has the same problem... mine just went... peels off from the back like a housing or the front casing just unclips?? Every time I try to get at something simple like this I break it so making sure I'm pulling from the right side first :)

Yes. The shop manual says to change the bulb just pull the cable out of the back. I pull and no luc. It's spring loaded.

Please explain "peels out". From the front, the chrome trim and orange lens as one piece. Pics if available...please..

Bump if Mikeyfrano or anyone else can elaborate. The pic gives me the idea that the housing separates from the bulb and then the front casing peels off for accessibility?? is that correct?

don't pull the wire, pull the bulb holder. I will try to dig one out and get a pic for you. pulling on the wire alone will possible pull the wire out of the bulb holder! in the pic on here you can see the raised edge near the rear.(wire end) where you can grip with your finger nails. caution it may pull out hard so a needle nose pliers may be needed.

I thought this was one of those "how many Polacks does it take to change a light bulb" jokes.

One to hold the light bulb, and 95 to lift and turn the house??? :)

69 Hemi is correct. You should also be able to use a small thin blade common screwdriver to pry inbetween where the housing and the bulb retainer meet. Usually they are a little tight or crusty from age. Hope that helps.
