Hi folks,

i bought a used set (16ea) of 3/8" pushrods with mounted ball / cup tipps.
My question is, how to remove the ball or cup tipp of the pushrod to shorten the lenght of the main pushrod? have you guys any suggestions or some pictures for better understanding?
i can´t find any instrution in the www.!

I know several companys like Smith bros make cut to fit push rods. Maybe if you have to shorten them enough you can cut the tip off and then drive the tips out from the inside with a drift punch.

Once they are pressed together, they don't come apart like Tw mentioned. How much shorter do you need them? You can machine the OD enough to make it 'release' the tip but it's going to be a good 3/8" to 1/2" shorter. I'll have to look and see if I have any tips laying around to see just how long the fit is but unless you have the proper tools to do this, I wouldn't do it. Doing what Bobby said may work but it's going to be tough to hold it while you try to punch it out but cutting to size and then installing new ends may work out....iirc, Smith Bros sells cut to fit rods.....
