Hello,

Our goal is to raise the motor a few inches on the left side to make clearance for steering box removal (removing lh motor mount bolt, keep rh motor mount bolt in and use floor jack on the oil pan to raise. However when we attempted it, we only raise the entire car, the motor did not rotate. So we unbolted the right and engine mount and tried again, but still the car raised and not just the engine. Can anyone help give idea how to raise engine? The car is on a 4 post lift so we can't get an engine hoist in front of it to lift, so floor jack was our only option in our minds.

If at all possible can knowledgeable people reply back quickly as I only have today to work on car (took job downstate and car is still up state). Thanks so much in advance!

If it were me. I would put the car on jackstands. Then remove the hood, (if necessary) and use an engine hoist to raise the engine.

Disconnect the tranny mount too. That will allow the engine to roll to the right side while jacking on the the left side of oil pan(Using a block of wood between the jack and pan.

Do you have a torque strap/bracket on it?

There's no reason that the left side wouldn't come up if all of the bolts are out. Might have to use a long bar at the mount to unstick if it's stuck.

Don't loosen up too much, you'll have your hands full.

Is it only the long horizontal bolt that would need to come out to get the motor loose or am I missing a different connection point?

Got to be something hanging. A stock mount if broke would allow the engine to roll more than that.
If no torque strap, check fan to shroud, header tubes, oil pan in k-member.

Do not Jack up on the oil pan. You can Jack on the rear lower flat of the block near the bellhousing with a bottle jack.

yes, that long bolt releases the mount from the k-member

I know you used a jack but this is what I thought of :)
