How to remove frozen lug nuts

Old trick and it's been mentioned on here a few times, I've never tried it myself.

My were frozen on the 70 Superbee until I snapped it off...

YUP, Can you say LEFT HAND THREAD?
(I had forgotten that, of course that was years ago)

Yup--me too. I broke three when I was 14 and it was not easy.

The lugs on my 70 Bee were standard both sides. Wonder why that was. Maybe the hub was changed.
The left hand lugs on my Allis Chalmers WD are left hand as well as a 63 Olds F-85 that I used to have

On the idea of this topic.
Suppose a nut is frozen to the stud and the stud's grip in the hub gives out and just spins?
Cutting into the nut is needed and it's tough to not damage the wheel.

What I had to do one time is drill out the stud to the point that the nut fell off.

I've only done that once, years ago. The worse thing about doing that, was when I noticed the "L" on the end of the broken stud...

I've had to use a cutting torch. And was careful not to damage my aluminum rim, but still totally melt down the steel nut and lug. Took an hour but was good practice

Did that F-85 have a 215 aluminum??

I used the wax trick when I had tried every trick in the book to remove a plug from my original 1970 water pump on my Road Runner when I restored it. I tried the wax trick and it really worked. I now keep a candle in my tool box. Yes, it really works, as long as you can draw the wax through. If you heat and apply wax to the same place, no go.

Sounds pretty surgical.

Yes sir,

Much better condition than it appears. Frame rails and floor pans all good. Hood as well. Restorable, traded it to a friend for some future body work on a car. Motor is still in it.

It was. Some dumbass from the local tire shop rounded the nut off on one of my beloved Dakotas. Didn't blow rim out with air compressor and used wrong sized impact socket.
