Anyone know how to clean the white mold release agent from new rubber parts?

I bought a new hood to cowl seal that came with a white residue. :BangHead:

I learned it is a mold release agent to keep the newly formed rubber part from sticking to the mold. What is the best way to remove it and the best way to preserve it once it's clean?

Thanks FBBO

should come off quite easily with soap and water. if not, maybe a little gasoline and a cloth. after cleaning of the residue, i wiped it with wd40. looks like new.

Soapy water and a scotch brite pad didn't do the job; it only took a little of the white stuff off.

Anyone actually deal with this?

Mineral spirits does well on windshield seals.
