How to replace front speaker 1979 Chrysler Cordoba

Looking for some insight as to how to replace the single front speaker on a 1979 Chrysler cordoba. Car has the original AM/FM radio with no 8 track. Looks to be a 4x10 speaker, although I am not entirely sure. I have never done speaker replacement before and im just not sure what exactly I am supposed to do. Do I just cut and splice the wires? Blue and black, going into the speaker with no visible plug up connectors or anything. Also any suggestions as to good quality replacement speakers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Have you pulled the speaker up out of the hole yet?

Hopefully, you can reach the connector from the hole in the dash, if not, you may need to pull the radio and get it from the back there.

As you can see from DeltaV's post, there is a connector there (unless someone replaced the speaker already and spliced it in somewhere).
