Anyone used the 1.5 Hughes Aluminium rockers found mine are starting to chew up the rocker shaft after 1000 mile good oil flow 450 psi open solid roller beehive springs. bottom & top shows signs of wear slight banana slots to the bottom Victor SB heads

Mine are still working well after a couple of thousand miles, although it was a 440, not a small block. What oil are you using?
Mike

penrite 10w30 they work OK just a bit concerned about the premature wear

Have YOU CONSIDERED CONTACTING Hughes ???????
IF NOT ….. WHY NOT ?????
My .02 cents …..

I think at 450lbs you're at the upper limit of any basic aluminum rocker. Harland sharp will tolerate more pressure if you want aluminum.

The heads are sb victor the exhaust is .15 offset the inlet .6offset so there is not a lot of choice HS makes roller but only for big block victor

I did fire off a couple of emails didnt get a reply
That’s Good ! You should inquire !
Always give the supplier a heads up on
Equipment Issues or compliments !
Hot Rods Are Not Warranted Like An OEM!
450 lb Open is pretty stout on the street !
Your lube may not have been up to snuff!
I always err on the side of caution & examinations of what caused an item to fail
Was it abuse ? Or Some Defect ? Or a misapplication?
Who knows ?
Did you analyze an oil sample ?
There’s always a cause somewhere.
Wouldn’t you agree?

I have found no one wants to know about warranty when it means shipping to Australia
I May have found the answer when the started from cold it takes 4 to 5 seconds for the oil to start pumping out the lifters if i open up the restrictors to speed up the process my oil pressure starts to drop currently 25 idle 62 cruising aluminium on steel is pretty unforgiving without oil looks like i have 2 choices prelube with a turbo pump or roller rockers. Will have to have the spring pressure checked what the engine rebuilder tells me & what he does are 2 different things

I have the Hughes 1.5s in my 440 but I am not running anywhere near your open pressures. No issues at all with the Hughes STL3842 solid lifter cam.

I am machining a set of HS Roller big block lifters had on the shelf to fit. geometry is good just thinning the width intake lifter 5mm to centralize on the valve 1 down 7 to go

I have been installing oil accumulators on my performance engines/engines that can sit for months without running.

Machined some BB Victor rockers to fit my SB Victor heads 20 thou shims all round ,the Hughes shafts are quite soft used case hardened shafts instead had to mill the 5/16" mounting holes to 3/8" clearance don't think i will be using that carbide cutter again don't worry about the loose wires they fell down didn't notice .
