I am wondering if i need to rebuild or service my Hurst 4 speed shifter that is original to my 69 RR. It's out of the car but seems to function properly. Is there any way to know if it needs service or rebuilding? Seems like you need a press to get it apart, does anyone know where i can have it rebuilt if needed? Otherwise i can give it a shot if its not too tricky.

If you don't find the youtube video or nobody posts the link, I can post it on here after I get off work. I have it saved on my desktop at home.

They are not too difficult to work on. Generally they need a good cleaning and you can do that by soaking in a solvent tank and blowing out all the schmutz. Repeated soaking, moving the mechanism, blowing out, pressure wash, etc.. After it's dry drizzle some 90 wt in the mechanism. This will free it up and let you know if you have excessive movement where you shouldn't have excessive movement. I ended up taking mine apart and re-bushing the pivot for the handle. That's the 1/4-28 carriage bolt with the nylon lock nut.
