i cannot get fuel to the carbs even after priming ths system and filling every line with fuel.
next the starter keeps failing me borken the wire inside twice,
battery died on me.

so close to giving up.

give me a break car god.

Just take a break. EVERY problem you've had this far is really small. You've just had a lot of them. Plus, you're learnin too as you go. I think you're doin pretty good if you ask me. Have you got a deadline? This car isn't gonna be everyday transport, right? Then take a break, drink some beer. Go croc huntin. Relax for a while.

Have you checked so your fuelpump actually working, did you gave the engine a shot of gas directly in the carburator to help it start?

No way you end up like this!
Electric fuel pump? Positive cable connected right?
Filter in right way, flow direction?
Disconected before regulator to see if you have fuel to this point?

Is it the solenoid wire that is loose in the starter? Had that problem myself.
