Preface: I'm 31.. Huge Black Keys (pre 2009), Gary Clark Jr Fan and overall a have a decent collection of classic rock albums.

Co-Worker went the Fleetwood Mac concert here in Portland last night was raving about how good they sound with all the band members back. Yata Yata.. All i think of Fleetwood Mac is Dreams, Little Lies or Rhanion, you know Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie the soft stuff my mom listens to on the soft rock stations..

Anyways, Peter Green-Fleetwood Mac..Holy Hell they're awesome jamming tunes and licks that are truly under-appreciated at least in my mind.

Mindblown!

Were they in wheel chairs and walkers?

They are a cool group and radio didn't play a fraction of what they wrote...

Listened to them as a young-un...before they became that pop-band. Awesome stuff.

From '67 to 71 they were England's top blues band, selling 12 million albums in the first four years. You should take a listen to the blues stuff from their jam sessions in Boston in 1969. Or the original version of 'Black Magic Woman' that was later covered by Santana. All great stuff!

Yep, they were a blues band with the genius of Peter Green. And it was Bob Welch that brought them from the blues into more of the mainstream music and essentially helped create what they are today. Welch was also a very good song writer. If you like the old Peter Green stuff get a multi disc collection called Rattlesnake Guitar http://www.amazon.com/Rattlesnake-Guitar-Music-Peter-Green/dp/B000003TQC

All Green's stuff covered by some amazing studio musicians. You will not be disappointed!

And I'll bet you think Neil Sedaka rocked the house too Dick.
Jeff Beck on the other hand..........

Actually, I'd say that Lindsay is an underrated and often underappreciated guitarist. For the purists, Fleetwood Mac with Buckingham/Nicks is not the same as the original Peter Green Fleetwood Mac, but they were constantly changing band members probably looking for an identity and they certainly found that in the mid 70s. I would also say that Bob Welch started the transformation into the "modern Mac".

Check out some videos; his bluegrass style of playing lead guitar is pretty good.

Well, they did have balls to put out this album cover.

And who doesn't like Tusk?

Lindsay Buckingham is one hell of a guitar player.

I saw him play a solo show in Atlantic City in front of about 300 people. We were right in front of him. He is an amazing player. The best part about the show was that it was like watching someone in your living room. We were all asking him to play different songs, and he just knocked them out. He was excellent. And I'm not even a Fleetwood Mac fan.

I just finished reading the book by Mick Fleetwood:
"Play-On"
Just released it October 28th.

I highly suggest anyone to "Read-It" if you want to know the REAL STORY...!

A great read...

My favorite is "Hypnotized".

You never hear that one anymore.

I also like "Never Go Back".

"Tusk" is on my top five list.

...and who can forget the iconic bass lick in "The Chain".

Peter Green wrote one of my all time favorite songs- "Green Manalishi", as performed by Judas Priest.

People often mention the Judas Priest version but I still prefer the Fleetwood Mac recording of Green Manalishi.

You mean he wasn't Like Neil Sedaka?

Plus...Peter Green was essentially a "Vegatable" from doing so much LSD...
He truly "Wigged-out", disapeared here in LA during the early 70s...joined a Commune, shaved his hair and answered to the name: Jonathan...
BTW: HE wrote Black Magic Woman...I

t took everything under the Sun by Mick Fleetwood AND Jon McVeigh to come back on stage...

Yea, I saw an interview with him on the BBC Top Gear a year or so ago about that book.
Lots of "screwing" around.

It all went down hill with the cocaine...

Then Mick's wife ,first wife, Jenny boyd (Her sister Patti Boyd, who was hooked up with George Harrison) Jenny boyd accused Stevie and Mick of having an affair....
They were not at the time..not untill mid to late 70s

Id love to see /Fleetwood/Mac in Los Angeles...
