It's fairly complete but worn. Hideous, AMX.jpg but fun in a late 70's way.
Sample pic. I will get real pics later.

Okay I'm going to admit my niativity. Is AMC part of Chrysler?

Not back then. AMC was bought out in 1988 by Chrysler.

The AMX Spirit was actually a pretty fun car, especially when you look at US cars and trucks for 1979. This was what defined "excitement" during the Carter years. With the 343, this was a neat car to drive. Definitely wears its' '70s clothes well, and the look is pretty unmistakable. If the car floats your boat, jump on it! How many do you see these days?

My buddy bought a manuel trans one..he didn't know how to drive a stick so I drove it every where.....that thing was a blast...the week he learned to drive it he bolted to Florida and I have not seen him since...

AMC=All Makes Combined. AMC used parts suppliers and parts from chrysler ford and gm. But, as others said, once chrysler bought them, they kind of became a mopar stepson.

Like that Flag, 1979 should be erased from History. Never happened.

LOL.... Carter..... 79.... excitement..... nothing from nothing leaves nothing :hello2:

As WileE said . Heck back then all I could come up with was a 78 Firebird that you would have to push off the line to see any excitement. I remember these AMX cars. a girlfriend had one but my other girlfriend didnt care for me going on rides ...... :) so I'm more of any classic guy and wont dis the car or the buyer. Now if it was 10 years newer? They could be bad to the bone!!!

Congrats on the purchase
Not really my deal, but pretty cool none the less

have fun with the 79 AMC AMX Spirit,

different strokes for different folks, I hope it's all you want it to be good luck

now a 68-69, I'd love to have an AMX in them years...

bought a roller from a buddy right after high school and wound up building it........ over the years it evolved nicely....... drove it daily (weather permitting).......... super dependable, everything worked, never let me down........ could drive to the dragstrip, hotlap all day, and drive it home.......... sold it a few years ago

i will always come to the defense of an AMC, but like all cars, i prefer 71 and earlier......... i also have a rebel machine project and another 2 seater........ but make no mistake; my 68 GTX is my true love.

sorry for the hijack, but I gravitate to any AMC thread.......... good luck with the AMX

Kid in my school was given a 68 or 9 big block four speed AMX...... sUPER fast car! Well my buddy decided to drive it through a fuel tanker at what was estimated at 100 or more mph. It looked like a remake of Vanishing Point. He was in the hospital for 6 months and the awesome car was DOA. The car looked like it was scattered for 100 yards. I was but a ShareCropper son so I admired that car and coveted said car. I would also like a Javelin prior to the UGLY big fender design...couldnt give me one even if it had all the fun stuff, just cant accept that big ugly fender.

what about the 79 camaro,corvette,aspen/volare/road runner. At least they were better than what Ford did to the Mustang!
