I need help please!!!!

I was driven my car earlier today and lost power. The car just shut off. As I checked out some wiring, connection, etc. I noticed the ignition control box was making a sizzling sound. Like something melting. The box does get really hot near the exhaust manifolds. I took the box off and it looks fine from the outside, but like I said it was sizzling.....for like 5 minutes. The box was grounded and secure. I had run the car several times before that this week and had no issues. The car wanted to start after I let it cool down, but no go. Ballast resistor was hot too. My buddy towed me to his house where it sits right now. Anyone have some suggestions?

I would say the ignition controller is fried. They are supposed to be mounted somewhere away from heat so they don't get so hot. You should definitely mount the new one somewhere else away from the exhaust. It is normal for the ballast resistor to be hot though.

new ignition box. I was able to drive the car home. At least it was relatively cheap and easy. I will have to move the new box to a cooler climate. LOL

could it be a voltage regulator?? i'm not great with electrical but that would be my guess, that or like 68chargerAG mentioned, your ignition controller.

No, it wouldn't be a voltage regulator. That only deals with battery charging. Heat is the number one cause of control module failure. I can remember pouring water on one to make it home back when there wasn't an auto parts store on every corner.
