I built a 440 with a 512 stroker kit aluminum heads. And a full 580 lift mechanichal roller cam build. My problem is now I can not get my 70 coronet superbee to hook up any suggestions are appreciated at 50+ mph half throttle is smoking tires any help is
appreciated

I'll swap you my 375 hp. 440 for your 512. It should hook up better for you!

Suspension and tires, there's so many options...

Any serious options are welcome... Lower gear ratio? Cal tracks and dot slicks? Or what? At 50mph six pack outboard smoke tires

Thanks for the chuckle....I love it when people come here and complain about making too much power.

Someone here will have a good solution for you....just hang tight.

You have a lot of "splainin" to do like kid said...Is this a track car, what size tires,?
What are your expectations?

Street and track maby 2-3 times a year. Tires are 275/60/15 Micky athompson S/T. 3.92 8 3/4 posi . 3k stall

Don't get me wrong kid. The Power and Tourque is Insane. But the 727 is manual valve Body with no kick down and every time I give it enough throttle to get the outboard comming in and wham, Back and wants to come around. I want it to Hook and go. Although when it does I'm sure it's gonna be interesting

I have closely the same setup. You need the M/T drag radials to get traction on the street. When I put the S/Ts on I'm smoking tires the whole way also. So since every stop light is a Xmas tree to me, I run the drag radials all the time. And I have a 4:10 gear, so heaps of torque.

You're running a 3K stall? When cruising the street at say 35mph, where are the RPMs? Wouldn't the converter be slipping under normal cruising?

With the manual valve Body I run around town in 1st gear. I can run in 2nd but yeah it is half grabbing for sure. So do you think a Set of Cal Tracs and M/T Street Slicks would fix the issue?

I'm running the stock leafs, Bilstein shocks and the 295 drag radials. In first gear the tires are lighting up but get traction quickly. In 2nd and 3rd the tires don't break loose when I nail it, unlike the normal treaded tires. Hell, I can't even get a chirp out of the tires. :( But my converter is a 2200 since I don't what it slipping while I'm street cruising and the 4:10 gets the RPMs up immediately. Does the 8 3/4 axle have a pinion snubber like the Dana does?

You got to learn how to feather that pedel. Just enough power to make it go but not enough to brake it loose.
Have you mentioned springs?
Look at it this way you have no broke anything yet and that could be next.

I'm agreeing with 440beep about the right tire. I'm sure it's like driving on a wet road when you overpower the back tires. Breaking loose at 50 mph would be mostly tire compound more than suspension.
You can get a adjustable pinion snubber for the 8 3/4 but that and springs mainly come into play for launches (weight transferring) Good luck!
(I wish I had that problem

A friend of mine swears by pro stock springs? Like 7 leafs on the drivers side and 5 on the Passenger? He said those springs and good tires will hook all day

My 69' Bee has the factory staggered springs, which is probably helping the hooking. With car down for winter, I may upgrade to Cal-Tracs , or new Mopar leafs, as another to do project.

Welcome to the world of 500hp + street cars.

You gotta put good tires on it. I run Hoosier qtp's both street/strip. Also drag shocks and correctly set pinion snubber. I also ended up removing my front sway bar. Car works good, it'll spin from a dead dig on the street but is fine from 20 rolls on up. 512's make some torque!!
