I had a guy approach me buying my jeep. Make a long story short I ended up trading for a 55 chevy. I usually don't like to trade but I felt like it was a good deal. I did add a little cash. Never had a 55 chevy but always wanted one. The car is fairly solid. Thought I would share with you guys. I think it would be a nice change of pace to be able to order everything out of a catalog.

sweet, i know its a chevy but i always like the tri-fives. nice. good luck fixing it up. :headbang:

It's kind of cool how the vent windows crank out. I like the straight windshield post with the wrap around windshield.

Now all you need to do is order up a straight axle kit from the Speedway Motors catalog.

X2 me too, my Pops has always wanted one, I've had a few 55 & 57's all racecars... I may have to build him one before he's gone...

yeah you can get anything almost you want for them reproduced, get the credit card out...LOL... good luck on the 55 Bel Air Project

nice trade looks in pretty good shape cragers on it what's under the hood now

Someone put A/MP on the windshield, like it was a A-Modified Production Race Car...LOL... I see a nicely prepped Art Morrison Chassis, 572ci tall deck BBC & 6 speed Tremic or Richmond/Nash, Strange 12 bolt rear w/4link & coil overs all around, in someone's future, it does have a 3rd pedal...LOL...

I thought you guys would get a kick out of my daughters 51 Chev. I always tell her I have the mechanics lien on it.

your daughter has a nice ride

I always tease her she couldn't afford to pay her mechanic/body guy enough to sell it. She is a fan of the rat rod look and the last time we went to a cruise and we were on our way home. She was driving in front of us with her boyfriend and Mom and myself were in back in the Dodge. We came to a stop sign in the country and there wasn't any traffic so she had to do a little power stand. I was so proud.

The car was running a 348 w motor before the guy I got it from bought it. I have a friend that has a complete 454 setting on a engine stand that I can probably get cheap. I'm thinking a 454 with a muncie 4 speed. I know where a couple of late 50's and early 60's olds and pontiacs are setting with the real strong rear end they used back than. It has a drop in front carrier like a 8 3/4 but it is a 9.3. Before the GM guys started using ford rear ends the GM gassers used this rear end. http://cruisinstyle.com/tech/100015/
I had this picture in mind

I always liked the 55. Very cool. Thanks for the link on the 9.3 rear end.

The 55 Chevy was always one of my favorite Chevy's, I had the 57 Belair years ago but always wanted a 55.. I think i would have done the trade myself! Have fun with the old gal!!
