i have a set of aluma star 2.0 on my 65 dodge coronet and want to buy a set of double black weld beadlocks.
Is this something weld needs to do professionally or can a backyard mechanic do them?
Not sure what's involved in putting on double beadlocks.
I do know that with beadlocks, taking slicks on and off is a breeze. not sure if there is cutting involved.

Chris, you need to send them off to have them beadlocked. Usually at a cost of about $500 per rim to have double beadlocks put on. Mine are ordered from Holeshot, and they charged $468 per wheel to do the doubles. Not sure what Weld charges though.

thanks Mark. i like the WELD ones in black.
do they cut off the front lip off so slicks slip on?
i cant remember where i heard changing slicks are a breeze with beadlocks.

Yes, changing slicks takes about 7 minutes per wheel with beadlocks. Those Welds look damn good! Here are a few pics of what mine look like. The first pic is the rim, the second is the beadlock that I'm having put on the rim in black.

Well, I will be able to post up pics of the completed wheels 2 weeks from today. The wheels will actually be finished by this Friday, but since I am headed out of town for a week, they are holding shipment til I get back. Car is in surgery right now and the chassis should be complete in about 4-5 weeks. Then I get to start the fun job of wiring, lmao. MSD Digital 10, MSD Power Grid, Speedwire Systems, Racepak V300 and UDX dash, plus all the sensors... ugh.
