I have a unknown camshaft in my 383 and want to know the lift and duration. I have removed the front cover but can´t see anything stamped on the camshaft, what are the odds that it is stamped in the rear? If i remove the coreplug I would be able to see it? Or is it any other way to tell without to remove the camshaft?

There should be a number of some description on the back of the cam, but it'll be a case of tracing it to a manufacturer. If you do decide to remove it and reuse it, make sure you keep the lifters in order so they return to their original cam lobes.

OK, will pop the coreplug later today, to be continued...

If you have a dial indicator you can easily check the lift. And using a degree wheel with the dial indicator you can figure duration. Also check for purple paint on the cam. But please be aware there is no "purple shaft" cam from Mopar. They're pretty much all painted purple (or used to be anyway)

Took out the plug and found this number: 643801CR, it seems to me that it is this camshaft: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CRN-643801/

What do you think of my 383 with that camshaft, an Edelbrock performer (1407) 750, Torker 383 intake, 915 heads, unknown compression but fairly high on the compressiontest, looks like forged pistons if I look through the sparkplug hole.
I also want to go with my HP exhaust manifold but will consider headders if it is needed.
This is the converter I have: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HUP-24-25/
Finally there is a 3,55 with 275/60/15 tyres.
I hope this makes a good combo, I am aware that the heads are not the best, I am also thinking about replacing the Torker 383, but if I continue I will soon end up with a new engine and this is what I got and I hope it will make a little more power than a stock 383, aiming for +350hp, how about that?

915 heads are a long ways from being poor....especially if they have the larger 1.74 exhaust valves. The only thing that might be bad is they don't have hardened exhaust valve seats from the factory. Not sure how good your gas is but you might have problems later down the road if the gas there is no lead and really crappy. And you can use your HP exhaust but headers would most likely free up a few more ponies....

That does look like a good cam.

Looks like a better dialed modern variation on the old 284/484, which was also a good grind.

Maybe with some of the properties of the 509 lift grind as well.

I may have to use that on my build!

That Torker intake is a keeper too!
