ignition question

I have read about the problem with starting the engine with the key and once you release the key from the start position, the engine shuts down, could be the ballast. But if I keep and hold the key in the start position, the engine will keep running, anyone experience this and could it be the ignition switch or the ballast? HELP please.

....if you keep the key in the start poition...doesn´t the starter run all the time ?
Had the same "problem ".... the "badboy" was the blue cable..that runs from the Ign. Switch ... The cable was broken... renewd it..works.
