Alright I gotta good one for ya

I own a 72 Roadrunner

When I pull the switch on my dash for the parking light's, nothing turns on, but when I pull the switch further for head lights, the head lights turn on, but not the tail lights or the side markers, but the break lights work which means their is electricity going to the lights...

:frustrated:

Thanks guys!

I'd start by first checking all fuses wiring to the switch, plugs and bulbs, pull the bulbs to see if they are making good contact and that they aren't burnt out. check any grounds and finally try and clean the switch with some electric cleaner or replace the switch {which would be my first guess}. what I mean by checking plugs are to pull them apart clean look for any problems, use dielectric grease and push back together.

Yep I'd agree with Rodney. Check the sockets for the bulbs with a circuit tester it should light up. I spent a whole day troubleshooting my RR just to find the damn new bulbs I bought had shotty nipples that weren't contacting the socket. Also your brake lights and the running lights are on different wires. Your brake lights should work with your turn signal indication, are you getting any turn signal indication? Also do you have schematics?

Yes my turn signals work, I have a book with all the schematics but It not doing me any good, do you have a better to understand diagram?

Ok here are some dumb questions so I can eliminate some things on the schematics. Does your car have fender mounted turn signals? When the turn signals are on do the marker lights flash...I'm not sure if they are supposed to I have a '69 runner which doesn't have marker lights. I see on the schematics that there is a black/yellow wire which connects the front marker lights to the directional lights so that is why I asked the question. I would shoot for power at the switch, if you have power there check into the lights on relay and check for power there.

Fuse. I had the same exact problem with my 73 Challenger. Headlights, turn signals, and brake lights worked, but no dash lights, side marker lights (only worked with turn signal lever), or tail lights.

I agree with checking the switch. The front and rear harness appears to split after the switch. So if the problems are on both ends of the car, the switch looks like the culprit.

X2 Fuse or bad ground going to fuse bock. had the same crap happen to me, changed a fuse in the fuse block (can't remember which one...figures LOL)
and voila!!! everything worked!! that is until it did it again fifteen minutes later out in the road. :sFun_doh2: changed fuse AGAIN and it didn't do it for a few days. I took the fuse block out and cleaned up the contacts and clips, and it hasn't done it again...goin' on a year now

Do all of the above, and I would also take the time with a can of electronic cleaner to clean up every place a bulb connects in that part of the system to get rid of any corrosion in the light fittings that can cause an unintentional short (blowing a fuse) or worse yet, what happened to my 70 Challenger RT/SE, which fried 2 turn signal switches in a week due to corrosion short in a taillight/brake light/turn signal bulb terminal. Even if you have no problems in the bulb terminals, wouldn't be a bad idea to clean and prep to avoid future problems.
