After losing the drive shaft in my 74 charger , the slip yoke caught the universal so the shaft didn't come completely out, but caused the car to violently shake. I have replaced the drivesaft, new and complete, changed the trans, checked wheel balance but still have a vibration throughout the car. New trans mount, and flexible plate is good. Any ideas?

Have you tried safely blocking up the rear axle and slowly running it in gear? This would rule out the front end or pin point it as the culprit. Then you could remove rear tires to eliminate them as part of the problem next. I am sure the other members will have better ideas then I and sure they will pipe up.

While it's jacked & chocked, let it run in gear and see if the shaft is straight.

Brand new drivesaft. Is it possible the ring and pinion got thrown out of tolerance?( 8 3/4 sure grip)
