indy 500

thought i would watch for the 1st time since it went all honda, 2004 i think, still freaking boring stuff. used to do the drive to indy in the early 70's. it was still racing then. at least the monico race is on today.
guese i am getting old but they have even done away with the stick shift.
what is next drone electric racing at indy? i am going out to my shop at playing some loud music...

i've always lived in the indy area and i can say that the locals don't have the passion for it like they use to. when the race was internationalized the zeal waned.

Bring back the roadsters!! Gotta have an Offy in 'em too. An offy has to be one of the best sounding engines ever. I agree about the 'international' influence changing the interest in the race. Back when USAC ran the show, the drivers were the same guys who drove midgets, sprint cars, and champ cars on dirt tracks around the country. Doing so, they built a fan base. When they got into their Watson or Kurtis roadster, fans across the country knew who they were and the Indy 500 was the 'Big Show'. Now it's a bunch of drivers that are basically unknown to most. By the way, did ya notice all the empty seats?
I have a few Diecast models. My favorite is the Dean Van Lines Watson Roadster driven by Eddie Sachs. I used to love the Indy 500.

X-2 I agree, His wife really got into it, with the count down lol 1 2 3 First one ive seen in a long time. Nascar now on FOX network.... If anyone watches it..

I got more intertainment from the 1,000 commercials on ABC. I just cant watch this style of racing. Iv even got burnt out on Nascar. And what is it when they keep showing Danica & Dale Jr. when they are running in 30th place? Junior couldnt drive a nail! And if they took the vanity mirror from Danica maybe she could stay off the wall. All racing is becoming too much like wrestling.
