Inertian ring on driveshaft ?????

Can anyone tell me if my 68 GTX hemi , 4 speed driveshaft has to have the inertia ring on it... or can i go back with a correct length shaft with out it.... also have Dana 60 rear...my book says i need 50.39 from center of u joint to center of u joint.... just wandering about the ring.

My 66 HEMI Belvedere 4 spd has the inertia ring. Also my 68 383 auto RR has it. Both cars are factory equipped with 3.55's so the gear ratio might be the common thread. I can ask a buddy with an unrestored 69 HEMI GTX.

Inertia ring was used until early 69.The correct length shaft without it will work just fine.

Cool.... thanks for the imput...i put one in that is correct length... without it...i kinda figured since 68 and 69 were so much alike there shouldnt be a difference... seems to be working ok.... just didn't want to mess something up.
