I have a set of edelbrock heads with a 600 lift with dual springs on the heads in a 360 engine, I have plans to install a bigger cam in the engine this fall, I have comp cams in my other cars and I have single springs on the heads but I have noticed that comp cams want you to remove the inner spring if you have a dual spring setup in order to break in the cam in a none roller engine,is this the same for all cams or just some?I ready don't want to go though that if I don't have to.

I think the theory is less pressure on the cam lobes during break-in means less chance of wiping out a cam lobe during break-in.

I did on my solid flat tappet as its just a little help with less spring pressure when breaking in the cam. I bought this valve spring tool from Mancini and it works very good and makes the job easier then any other tool I have used. Ron

Nice tool Ron!

Nice tool Ron!

Yea it is nice. What I like about it is that you run the allen head bolt in and it compresses the valve spring and holds it there until you back it out. So you can use both hands getting the keepers in and out. You dont have to use one hand to hold the tool like other tools. Ron
