Has anyone here on FBBO ever put together a fund raising car show??
Reason being the wife is a member of one of the local Relay for Life teams and they want a "Big" fundraiser this spring. I, being a car lover suggested a Car Show. So now "we" are gathering information on how many and how to divide up the classes so that there is a good mix of cars/trucks/motorcycle. It seems that this is the hardest decision to make, especially never having done this before. Due to surgery, breakdowns, and family, I was only able to enter the yellow beast in three judged shows this past year. Every one was judged differently and had different division of classes.

Thanks

We've done them. The thing with fund raisers is usually the cost of the site, promotion, and handouts to get owners to come, eats up most of the entry fees and most of your money will come from auctions and raffles held during the show.

One of things I really hate about "judged" shows around here is there is usually heavy representation from a few local clubs where everyone knows everyone, everyone has their favorites, and club members vote for fellow club members under the "you vote for me, I vote for you" clause. Great if you're in the club, but makes going to the effort to go to the show if you're not in a club not worth the time, so you see the same cars at every show. Boring. If I had my druthers, I would have all voting done by visitors. Instead of a single "people's choice" award, have all the winners picked that way and have one "participant's choice" award.

As for classes, you can go by eras (40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, etc.), class (stock, hot rod, muscle, etc.), work (most modified, most original, best paint, best stereo, best engine, etc.), or a mix.
