In a bone head move I pulled out the bulbs to remove the instrument cluster but didnt note where they go, my service manual doesnt help, anybody know the order of the colored wires? a pic would help.
Thank you

When I did the instrument cluster on my 63 I believe the wire leading to the sockets for the dash lights were the same color. The low oil light was a different color as well as any other warning lights. If the harness is still taped together you can't move the lights too far away from where they should go. If you want to test before you screw the cluster back in, plug the lights where you think they should go then run a temp. ground to the cluster and test your lights. Good luck.

What car, what year, what dash?

X2.

The instrument bulbs (the bulbs that light the instruments, aka: gauges) on my `66 are of a socket type...each bulb goes into a black plastic piece that has brass(?) tabs on the mating edge. Each plastic piece rotates into their respective holes on the back of the instrument cluster. They get power via the board they rotate into. Pretty sure these were used up through `74.

This is the plastic socket

my cluster. is on a 70 charger with the rally dash. I bought new 5/8 twist sockets for the 194 bulbs, they dont fit very tight, as a matter of fact they barely take hold at all probably bought cheap pos chinese crap. the volt limiter was hanging free when I took off the dash, isnt it supposed to be secured to the metal dash frame?

holy moley catachatorie!! Its a wonder my dash didnt go up in flames, found a diagram of the circuit board and where the limiter is supposed to go. it was plugged into two brown wires and dangled free. my gauges dont work bet they fried. another job done by crack head electric
