intake manifold problem

got a 1972 dodge charger, installing a 74 318 motor, my 72 intake leaves open the AIR ports, is there a plate to cover this or do I leave open, any help, first rebuild

The mopar performance gaskets kits used to include the block offs and maybe still does. Do you have an old gasket with the block offs? You aint gonna need no help warming up the intake down there in GA. If you don't have the block offs from an old one maybe you could cut some out of an old valley pan.

Can you show a picture of what you're talking about? Are you talking about the half circles in the top of the heads?

Patrick, yes it's the half moon port above center ports, can't find the plates in any gasket kits, pic attached

Those air ports are normally left open - don't worry as they don't leak oil or water - just for circulation of cylinder head heat to the intake.

I was just going to ask about that because on the 2 factory 318 engines I have with cast 2bbl manifolds those aren't blocked off.

Yup, won't hurt a thing to leave them be but it does look kinda crappy but it makes people wonder how it runs like that lol.
