I have 1970 383 and am looking for stock intake manifold. Can I use a 383 manifold from any year 383 engine or is a 440 intake manifold interchangeable with the 383 engine
You can use an intake from a 361- 383 or a 400, they are all B blocks. A 440 is an RB block and can not be used on your engine. I will be switching out my intake in the near future if you are looking for one, its off a 383.
440 won't fit 383!Any 383 will interchange,just make sure it's a square base carb.If not you'll be stuck using a thermopuke carb!Also 68 thru 70 for the correct intake
Also keep in mind 383's came in two flavors. B and RB. The RB variety is ancient so the chance of finding one of those is pretty slim. Also the early B 383's had the narrow AFB pattern as opposed to the wider more conventional Holley type.
