Need to get a single 4bbl for my 440. Street strip, .590 purple shaft 4 speed 4.10 rear. I will go with the tried and true torker 2 unless someone else has had better experience with something else.

I ran an open single plane with a 2" phenolic spacer & heat deflection plate the, archaic old Eddy Tarantula {TR-7 I think it was} for years, the Indy single plane is a good piece too, I had the Indy Dominator version on my Low deck 479ci w/N20, I have a friend with a Holley Strip Dominator that swears by it too... I have used the good old Torker also... the MP M1 is supposed to be a good piece too...

What heads are you using ? There are a few I would say work good but it depends on the full combo many times as thats why I wonder what heads you use. I will say the Indy dual plane works very good on my street/strip 440/493 combo. Ron

346 castings. Ported. Gasket matched.

Most any of them will work well. I mean....unless you're competing in a dyno competition I wouldn't sweat it. If you already have the Torker 2, slam that pup on there.

I love a holley street dominator intake. A real nice discussion about them in mopar muscle a few years back. THe numbers speak for themselves. I have used both a torker II and HSD, and would pick the SD every time.

There are few good ones. Some are so close in performance that unless you test them on the car you wont know which is the best for you but about 8 or so intakes will be so close you wont feel the difference. Here are a few good ones for street/strip:

Eddy Performer RPM
Holley Street Dominator
TM-7
M-1
Eddy Victor
Indy single plane
Indy dual plane
Torker II

Thats just to name the ones I can think of off the top of my head. If the car is going to be more street you might consider a dual plane as the RPM and Indy dual plane are very good intakes. As I said I use the Indy dual plane and I would rate right at the top. It can be had with standard or max wedge ports but its not cheap. The RPM will also work good on a street/strip car. My son runs the RPM on his .030 over 400 and it is a bit faster with it then the single plane was. Course the Holley Street Dominator works very good as it has good low end for a single plane. Some single plane will require that you have enough gear and converter for them to work real good as they work great on race cars with alot of gear. And the Victor makes serious power but is tall and dont fit under some hoods. If I were you and your not in a super hurry I would check out some swap meets and see what you can find at a good price and grab it. I picked up a Holley Street Dominator for $75 dollars at a swap meet and thats one of the best intakes for your combo. Ron

Womanator I am curious as to what gear and converter you have in the Dart as its 60 seems a little soft. Here is my 60 on an et about the same as yours and I am using the Indy dual plane ? Is that your best 60 ? I use a cam very close to the .590 as mine is .585 and .592 lift. My 60 is a bit better then yours but you have a bit more mph. Ron

What's your budget? If you can afford something new and don't want to spend a lot of time looking, just get the Eddy RPM from Summit. If you're looking for something used, here are a few good choices.

That last one would be the one I would try to get. They are badass.

Exactly my plan. Swap meet season is fast approaching and I am sure I will find something. Leaning toward the steet dominator if i can find one. I think with the 4:10 gear on a 28inch tall tire and a variable stall speed, otherwise known as a 4 speed, the single plane would be the better choice. I would think(hope) that with that cam, the motor will spin faster than dual plane intakes are rated for.

If it comes down to it I will buy new, but I am trying to be smarter with my money. I have made some monumental monetary mistakes in my life and am making an effort to correct that. I will do the swap meet thing and I am sure I will find something. I dont need to have this thing on the road tomorrow, so I have time. Patience is the name of the game from now on.

Ron,
I'm running a 3500 stall.
Leave the line at 2000 rpm's because that car has street tire's
With slick's the car has a 1.39 60 ft time.
4.10 gears with a spool. It's chirpie on the street.

Your combo does sound maybe more suited for a single plane. Only reason I thought about the dual plane was cause you are gonna street drive it. I think either one will work as well. I would use a single plane that didn't have them stupid dents in the inner runners to clear the bolts. That's a kinda bad restriction on some of them.

Hemi, just to let you know, I have a 70 charger I bought a m1 single plane and it doesnt even come close to fitting under the stock hood. all the dyno articles on manifolds results are so close I would just pick the one that will fit

Yeah, good to know. I was eyeballing the m1 as well. Only if it gets a lift off six pack hood will it get that. See, its this kind of thinking that gives me money trouble.

Wow thats a big difference ! Very nice 60 ft.

Hemi Rebel the Holley Street Dominator is one of the lower single planes out there and works very good. I only suggested a swap meet as you can save some bucks that way. Good luck , Ron

Resist the urge. It ain't like you're a points racer lookin for every tenth. You're lookin for the best bang for your budget. Be strong. lol

Hemi, it should fit with a scoop, I know what you mean about the bucks, I have blown a bunch of my budget on re do's, The experience of the people here on fbbo saved me a bunch of times. Too bad weiand doesnt make a stealth manifold for big blocks, those things look great on paper. I had the original torker on a 340 years ago and it ran very strong
