Looking for help on installing the front and rear interior door panels.I do know that some glue will be used, but how should i force the cardboard to the upper metal piece.I was thinking using a socket around each rivet and giving it a wack if thats what its called.Surely someone has done this job.Thanks.

71 Plymouth Satellite.
I've not done that job on a '71, but your idea about using a good amount of glue & whacking on the cardboard using a socket to push it over the rivets sounds reasonable (with the glue too since some of the rivets might not hold like they did 40+ yrs. ago when the door panel was first put together).

There might be a better "trick" that I don't know, so hopefully someone else will chime in.

ddpsnake- I have to recover the rear interior panels I just got. I started a thread but no answers yet. I was wondering how to get the chrome trim piece off the metal to get the new vinyl cover on the cardboard/fiberboard part. If you look at the pictures of the back of my panels, it seems that the black vinyl goes under the chrome and wraps around the metal back. I don't want to damage the chrome prying it off if there are clips or if there's a trick to removing it and being able to reinstall the chrome. If you have any ideas.....Thanks.

IN my case,my chrome window felts from the factory are stapled, threw metal and guess what they got trashed.I need new ones any way,got the new felts and no staple so now i am faced with drilling holes, screw or pot rivet. In you case me thinks your going to peel away a little vinyl, and take a good look to see whats holding that chrome strip on,lets hope your out come is better than mine.If a moderator reads this i goof it should be in the interior section.
