I am slowly restoring a 68 Road Runner. I recently had my dash frame and steering column repainted with what was supposed to be the correct paint from Instrument Specialties. It is not the correct shade of green. My car is F8 green with a green interior. It has the "decor" package so the seats are two tone green. My research says the correct paint is called "catawba green" and all green interiors had the same color dash and hardware. It is a flat metallic paint. The Instrument Specialties paint is a "lighter" shade. The texture and metallic look are correct. I have paint codes from PPG (DIA43695) and DuPont (9507LH). No one seems to have a recipe to mix this paint though. A local restoration shop claims to have the right paint, but would not sell me any. Trade secrets they claimed. Wanted $600 to paint the dash frame only. Does anyone know where I can find the right paint? Also what else on my interior used this paint. My doors are painted a different shade of green on the interior than the dash and the exterior. What color is this supposed to be. The trim between the windshield and headliner seems to match the dash. Is this correct? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. IMG_0731.jpgIMG_0732.jpgIMG_0733.jpg

I think the paint is the same, except it has a flatner added.

Go to Dr Vinyl.com and see if there a doc in your area that can whip up a batch by eye if he can. He should! I was one and they taught us how to do it by eye. I would help but I'm on the other coast.
Call these guys too. http://www.creativecolorsintl.com/ I knows there's more, I'll report when they come up. Good Luck

i realize now, that info may not be of help.
i also was given a huge stack of receipts, from when the car was restored.
the paint receipt may be in there, to get you a source.
ill get back to ya, late tomorrow or sunday. (work gets in the way)

Kolor korrect (mo paints) will have the correct color and texture you need. Look them up

The steel dash paint and the steering column paint was what was called a "Suede" finish. The paint had a little bit of texture to prevent any glare to the driver from the sun on these parts. As for the rest of the interior, that would be the upper door frame color on your fender tag. Our 69 GTX convertible has a T7 upper door frame color while the dash and steering column are considerably lighter in color and almost a milk chocolate color compared to the copper color of the T7.

Hope this helps.
