Is a buddy seat rare and or desirable?

I was watching Dennis Collins talk about some Mopars he has and he was touting the buddy seat option as something you rarely see. My 70 Coronet 500 has it and I always wished it had regular buckets.

Buckets and buddy seat (arm rest) is the exact same "regular" buckets as a car with a console would have.

The arm rest feature is nice.

...but you lose the floor shifter.

However, the buddy seat could be optioned with a four speed.

I preferred it to the console in my four speed car, and based on the car's auction performance after I sold it, may have added to the value over empty space between the buckets. I had one in a '69 GTX with automatic, and when I sold the car, the column mounted shifter killed my resale value.

I had the buddy seat in a 67 satellite. It was nice but I too would have preferred the console. I would think most people opted for the console back in the day.

I'll take a buddy seat any day! I don't think they are rare by any means, I've have 4 cars with them. But I agree, I think the console is more popular and more console cars exist.

Rare?
Not really.
Desirable? all depends on who is sitting on either side of it

I would take a bench seat or buckets with buddy seat car over a console car any day!!!

The buddy seat as a place to rest your arm is VERY nice to have. That said, the console looks very cool & the extra storage is nice.

My 67 Satellite hardtop has the console. I had a 67 Sat convertible that had the buddy seat. Both auto so I prefer the console and floor shifter

I think the buddy seat was standard, at least in 67. The console is shown as a no cost option and has a box on the broadcast sheet that is coded for it.

Makes sense for my 2 as my hardtop is a high option, "sold" car and other was lower optioned lot car.

Buddy seat, was to get the other sex closer, or get the mother in law to keep things calm.
For sure. Back in my youth, my first Mopar had a buddy seat and my "buddy" who sat in it had a miniskirt and a rack.

"F buddy" seat?

I think Dennis is more of a Ford Mustang guy. Got a buddy seat in the 67 Coronet 500 convertible
