Is it possible that I have regular tail lights on a 1971 500.

The car has two sets of hide-away-headlamps. To look at the front fenders they have the numerals 500 pressed into the metal from some long ago tight spot. The car is Hemi Orange with a black vinyl top. I had the trunk floor redone so I know there wasn't any rear end damage. The seat covers were from a later model.

Every thing else looks like a Charger 500. The dash says Charger 500 on a wood grained panel above the glove box. The know it alls say it's not a 500 because the tail light are not hooded.

Taillights could have been removed. Does it have the Upper door panels like the R/T? What are the first two letters of the VIN?

Post some pictures up .a 71 500 isn't really anything special the tail lights are easily taken I wouldn't say it's not a 500 because there missing but there not like the 70 charger 500's there a lesser option then the r/t in 71 about the same as an s.e.

The tail lights are out at the ranch. I won't get to see them right away. I think the Vin says it's an upscale Charger. It has power window all over. Slap Stick shifter. It just has the big clock no tach. I guess I wonder why would you fake a 500? Please explain a little more about the top of the door, like an R/T. It also has the skinny pin stripe down the body. Power steering, AC.

The 500 had upper door panels like the R/T, with a medallion that said Charger. The SE which would also have a Vin starting with WP had a completely different upper door panel.

Are you going to keep both hideaway sets? If not will you be selling the one you don't use?

Yes I will sell all my parts I don't use. PM in about a year from now. The project is still in a half done stage. The upper door panels have vertical lines and a medallion in the center top. Set up for electric windows. I have already thrown some stuff out and sold other stuff. But I will let u know. The VIN does start with WP. Looks like I will be buying the tail light assembly. Any ideas on where to get them?

The one thing I did throw away was the trunk lid. It was very rusty at the inner lip and we cut it up to make some patches with it. It came with two trunk lids. It had a 440 in it so we sold that for cheap and had the original 383 rebuilt. Sold the second front bumper assembly.

Does n\ayone know where I can get the correct tail light assembly. Repops are fine

500 superbee and rt shared similar taillight bezels. Many was swapped because of the value in the resale.
