Is there any external balancing option for a 318?

I know some of the big blocks have this option, but not sure about a small block. The reason I ask is because when in park and I rev the engine a bit, I feel a bit of a shudder which seems like an out of balance issue to me.

Any help would be appreciated!!

Check that you haven't lost one of the 4 torque converter flex plate bolts.

I agree to check the converter bolts first. Just had this happen to a person at the Muscle Cars at the Strip show.Theirs was a noise at Idle and would change at rpm.The converter bolts were loose.They did say it was about a year ago that they had the tranny rebuilt.

All 318's are internal balance.

Every torque converter is a little different, and I have noticed a difference in engine balance any time I have had to change converters.

Thanks to all for your replies. Next time I can get the car on a rack, I will check the torque converter bolts and see how it goes!

The 360 relies on a counter weight on the torque converter. While the 318 don't.
