So today we decided to tear down my new 383 to find out what cam was put in it. Along the way we spotted this... I can't see someone spending all the money rebuilding this if this was a problem but I just wanted to check with you guys.

That is just block casting it was done at the factory forge, not uncommon to see on stock block. Take a grinding wheel and clean it all off to open the hole up for max oiling. I did my 440 and it is a nice smooth oval shape. Make sure you use an oil slinger too.

That is exactly what I was hoping to hear. The openings on the inside of the block above the cam are the same way.
