hi guys ...me again... for those that dont know...i have an absolute bone stock 1970 road runner with a 383 that has not been touched. right now as it sits, its just too quiet. keep in mind that this 383 4 BBL HAS NOT BEEN CAMMED....nothing has been done to it..BONE STOCK.

i would like to give it more rumble. what are you guys using? the car looks mean but does not sound mean and i would like to fix this. im not sure but i THINK there are flowmasters on it now ( DUAL EXHAUST).

i dont want it to be OBNOXIOUS like my bike is but i like the rumble.

Flowmasters on it now? add headers to make it a rock and roller. I'm told a good exhuast system can run into the thousands. I used a cheap summit system with turbo muffs and hooker headers. Poorly welded I might ad. But sounds mean when u get on it. :)

my cheap *** long tube hooker headers with 2 foot of 3" collector tube into 25" cherry bombs exiting under the rear seat sounds absolutely clean, mean and nasty around 3500 - 4500 RPMs waking up the neighborhood at 10 pm. and i have less than 400 bucks into it.

yeah bigman...i think theres flow masters on it now but im not 100% sure..,,,,quiet ones. i bounced around the idearrrrrr of headers and opted against it. heres why.....i did all that to my 1st 70 Road Runner back in the 80's and didnt have luck with them. i had thrush mufflers on it then and all they did was fall off constantly. not saying that ill have the same bad luck, but i really do want to keep this car as close to stock as possible. i just want it louder and since i have not played with cars in over 30 years, im lookin for the easy ( not the cheap) way out. i want the idle to be throatier and when i get on it i want everyone to know im leaving lmao .

Well if it's just muffs you are after for sound the dynomax deltas I hear do the trick or the flowmaster super 44's or 50's just about straight through design would wake it up.

I'm using the Flowmaster44 series...love em and they are just a step above legal very very throaty literally I can hear mine idle 15 feet away

Just install some cutouts before your mufflers. Then you can have the best of both worlds.

I have headers on my SB and new cherry bombs, its more loud then i actually care for and going down the road and nailing it, your heard, has a decent idol sound and my son in law is appox 1/1/2 miles over on the next road, he knows when i start it and rev it up some in my driveway.. I want to put the Flowmasters on, i think that will give the right amount of noise and rumble all be it a SB i need.

I have noisemasters on my 66 Belvedere with a 3" TTI system all the way out the back. Best way I can describe the sound is like listening to an open header car with your ears plugged.

for about 14 years now I've been using factory HP manifolds hooked to 2 1/4 through good ole Purple Hornies w/ 68 Dart (rectangle) resonator tips. Plus I use an Msd 6al ignition. This combo has gotten me alot of compliments and dirty looks too!

Since i redid the interior i also put in insulation on the floors so now you can talk to the people inside the car while moving... that wasn't the easiest task before! lol

I've got a 440 in my road runner with the following set-up. Hedman Headers, dumping into true duals all the way back through 3" into Flowmaster mufflers. Not sure which flow masters they are, but I passed inspection. Sound wise, everyone certainly know's I'm there and that it's a mean gas eating machine. Idling, warming up in the garage the sound vibrates the entire house. Quite literally vibrates the picture frame on the bathroom wall on the 2nd floor, opposite side of the house. When you stand behind it, it has that deep throaty basey lapping sound that just hits you with every note. I love it.

I have a 1997 Ford P71 (police interceptor) Crown Victoria that was used by a GA sherriff's office to do high-speed chases on I-75. It has dual flowmasters, no tailpipes, and turndowns on the end of the mufflers. When that car fires up, every male between the ages of 14 and 50 turns to see what's making that sound and they're usually shocked to find out it's a Crown Vic and not some souped-up muscle car. I have the receipts from the sheriff's office, which shows they paid a smidge over $700 for the exhaust, which isn't cheap but it sure has all the sound you could ever want.

Turndowns seem to be the secret to really making sound. The noise from the mufflers gets shot directly down to the road surface and reflects off it without any resonators or tailpipes to further moderate it. The only time that car is quiet is when you go over a bridge with a grid bottom and the sound has nothing to reflect off of.

Cut outs are like a y that you install inline with your exhaust. one side of the Y flows exhaust through your mufflers. The other side of the Y has a cap that you can remove for open exhaust. I am going to put a set of my truck when i put the 440 in.

I always used thrush glasspacks back in the day [but they rusted out frequently] i had flowmasters on my cuda but too quiet,my cuda is in the exhaust shop now, it's getting 2 1/4 duals into 2 1/2 magnapacks then 2 1/4 to the rear bumper thru 2 1/2 oval tips have not picked it up yet, my instructions to the exhaust shop was i want to make it loud and obnoxious so small children cry. If you can't hear it it ain't worth havin!

If you like being followed around by the popo, hearing loss and tinnitus, and having your car vandalized, put headers and glasspacks on it. 0.o

U can have the glasspacks installed so the baffles are backwards. This will accelerate hearing loss. : D

blub blub blub blub....

Sup dog! i've got stock manifolds and 2 1/2" TTI dual exhaust (h-pipe) with dynamax mufflers (not sure what model # tho) on my GTX. rumbles real nice and when you stomp on the loud pedal, it can be heard for blocks around...yinz have a listen...
