Hey Guys,

DW, myself and another couple jumped in the car and made a run to the James Dean Festival in Fairmont, Indiana yesterday. Was the first "long" road trip for the car. We clocked about 130 miles, round trip. It did great although I'm using some oil about a quart for the day. For now going to chalk it up to break-in. It didn't get hot at all, not even when standing in traffic trying to get out of town.

Unbelievable amount of car, people and bikes. Three or so small towns have events this weekend the place was packed. It helped that we had perfect weather. 60's in the morning and 80's during the day.

Here are some shots of things that i thought had some character. Only 2-'63's and a couple '62's. No '64's or '65's. There was a Mopar corral sponsored by the local Dodge dealership.

The shots of the falling down building is the High School Dean attended. Could have been saved and re-purposed at one time, but not anymore. They should tear it down and sell the fixtures and bricks.

i went to gas city and james dean yesterday. i'd estimate between the two there was probably 3500+ cars. there were 2500+ registered for gas city alone. i hadn't been up to these two events in 10yrs and was amazed at how large they have grown. a lot of stuff to see, gobs of people, good food, and i didn't even go to the motorcycle show. this is a worthwhile event to go to. much bigger than the goodguys in indy.

wow !! allot of shots of some very cool rides, Thanks 2059 for sharing & taking the time to post all of them...

I like that last Rat Rod, it's cool but not insanely "way over the top", like so many of them often are...

That Mini Monster Truck I'll bet is a blast to drive too !!

That Gold 69 Barracuda is really nice too...

That Turquoise 67 Chevelle SS is nice car too, hell most all of them photos are nice....

That red 68 R/T Convertible is really nice too, the tribute to Mr. Norm, is pretty cool...

Yup. I heard 3000 at Fairmont whoooo knows. It's insane!! When we hit Gas City we turned off the main drag and went across town on the side streets...... trying to find a bar for refreshments. Ended up waiting until we got home. Probably for the best.

The little monster truck had a 4 cyl honda engine in it. I talked to the owner a bit. His son runs it in competition,, it's pretty serious stuff to them. The Barracuda holds a place with me, one that got away. The Chevelle was nicely finished. Most of the cars there did a good job with the basics then failed on the finish work. Really weak paint jobs etc. The '68 was the complete package along with the black Road Runner, It was a clone but still well done...

this show/run focuses on the '50's and rods. The rest is peripheral.... a huge amount of peripheral....

nice pics!! what was up with that Studebaker?? stripes gone wild!! lol
