Extent of Jasper wildfire damage still unknown; Alberta Wildfire hosting update

Seen some videos. There is nothing left. My heart aches for all those affected.

That’s terrible! Hopefully they bring some planes and helicopters to drop some serious doses of retardant or water and get it knocked out asap.

I've been noticing lately, that these fires are becoming more frequent and around the same time in multiple locations. This leads me to ask, is it a coincidence or purposely set? I'm inclined to think that they are done on purpose. Areas where camping isn't all that prevalent and some far off the beaten path. I live right next to BLM land where shooters frequent and at times cause fires because they haven't a clue about the tinder box kindling that is everywhere out there. And should a fire start, are unprepared to at least have extinguishing devices to help curtail one until help arrives. Instead, they bolt and let it run its course. We do get at times, afternoon and early evening thunder and lightning storms that do drop some rain, but as dry as it is out here in the West, it's bound to happen. Canada now does what? The last couple of years have had significant ones burning up way too much of their forest land consumed. How did they get so large and rapid in their growth??? If they are being started by arsonists, then why cannot they be caught in the act??? cr8crshr/Bill:usflag::usflag::usflag:

These fires are. Very destructive, you would think buy now our country would come up with a better plan to have earlier control before they get out of control. They should send our newly acquired immigrants to fight these fires. Mite solve two problems at once

I believe that “national parks” are still allowed to burn “naturally”. Townsites will be defended but I think the forest is at the mercy of Mother Nature.

I was going to plan a trip up there in September.
An awful thing as it's a wonderful place.

Because some forests depend upon fire for the regrowth cycle.

Most of this could have been prevented by responsible preparedness. Unfortunately leadership with the skillset to deal with things like this are not in place. This country isn't worth a pinch of $%# right now.

More like cut down old growth, Prep and replant properly afterwards, replace 5 gallon bucket helicopters with large planes for huge amounts of water and fire retardent etc. Loggers 30 years ago were a huge asset, they're replaced by multinational companies that don't care and get whatever they want, not what's right.
This province is covered in lakes and yet they let fires get out of control before doing anything.
This province was offered more aircraft over the winter, they turned them down, they prefer spending the money cleaning up the mess rather than stopping the mess.

Terrible loss. We travelled there several years ago. Last time I had been there was when I was a teenager, and I gained a whole new appreciation for the beauty of the area.

To add to this post, a clear example of what people do to cause these events to happen. This guy should be hung!!! cr8crshr/Bill:mad::mad::mad::realcrazy::realcrazy::realcrazy::usflag::usflag::usflag:

Got more to add as this is totally insane!!! cr8crshr/Bill:usflag::usflag::usflag:
