On this day Jan. 14th in 1920, John Dodge died of influenza (or poisoned by Henry Ford)while attending the National Automobile Show in New York City. He left his wife, Matilda, a widow with three small children. John and Matilda had used Meadow Brook Farms as a country home and weekend retreat. John Dodge is best remembered as founding the automobile empire Dodge Brothers Motor Car Company with his brother, Horace.
