Hi all, just got back from having jury duty. Well it never made it past the jury selection for me but that was still two days worth. It was a whole lot of sitting, waiting and listening. I can honestly say that if they would have gotten to me they would have let me go. The guy was guilty,period!
He was accused of robbing a liquor store and by the questions they were asking he probably shot someone. He had a prior arrest so there is a pattern and there was drugs involved somehow. I know it's innocent until proven guilty but if you robbed a store with a gun you're guilty. The defense was going to try and show self defense. For what I'm not sure. By the end I sort of wanted to be on the jury just to hear the whole story. :icon_eyes: :confused4:

I never get picked to be on a jury. Its just a day off of work to catch up on some reading. Its such a fraudulent scam where I am anyway.

I served on jury for a murder trial once. It was interesting but not too much fun. We ended up as a hung jury, the first of two. He got convicted on the third try.

A couple of years ago I got called for jury duty for a DUI trial. During jury selection the defense attorney actually asked me if I thought his client was guilty. I couldn't believe he would ask me that in front of the rest of the jury pool. So I told him "Hell yes I think he's guilty, I can spot a drunk a mile away. End of jury duty.

I use to get called several times a year but never got pass the question and answer stage. Once I say I strongly support capitol punishment and no retrails, it's a waste of time and taxes, they excuse me. Guess it finally sunk in as I have not been called in 5 years.:headbang:

It's an inconvenience sometimes... We have a great justice system usually !!, I have gotten several summons to do jury duty, even civil Grand Jury, never even got to the DA or Defense lawyers interview, in most all of them except the Grand Jury I was an alternate, $15 a day & lunch, a small fuel voucher, because I lived out of town & a served on a sexual assault case, in Contra Costa County years ago... I will serve again if asked, reluctantly maybe & I will be honest if asked any questions also, they will probably reject me anyway, I'm pretty conservative in my views about crime & the crooks... But it's part of our civic duty as voters & Americans, if you don't vote, then you won't get a jury summons even, "supposedly" & I'm a big advocate of VOTING, so if you get a summons means your a voter & I wish more people would exercise their rights to vote, maybe we wouldn't be in the debacle we're in with our current leadership today... IMHFO most people that get arrested, for many of these crimes, all of them usually have a good reason, they got picked up & that they mostly all have a record in the 1st place, repeat offenders, that's why they get picked up, they have a, eye witness, a video of the act, some other good evidence, from a Prosecutor's perspective to get a warrant or what ever... That doesn't mean they're guilty, but probably are none the less, probably got away with many other crimes they weren't caught for too, but they should still get due process, under our laws, innocent until proven guilty, even if it seems otherwise allot of times... I think if your of that type of mind set, to rob someplace at gunpoint, you should be locked up anyway... Maybe the self defense claim, is just another layer plow, to try to get the guy off, could or probably a third strike offense, in & out of prison/revolving door broken prison/justice system, he could be looking at life or 25 year min., for the 3rd strike rule... who knows, it's all conjecture on my part... ok I'm done...

Guess I got lucky. The county had sent me a notice that I might have to do jury duty. I sent them a letter stating that my job takes me out of state all the time and I could not guarantee that I would be able to make it back in time for jury selection or interviews. They sent me a letter back saying I was removed from jury selections.

I suppose showing up looking like a skinhead might get one excused.

Never been called....in my life. I have always wondered if it had anything to do with the Vet status or the fact that I'm simply a moron.

I've been called up 4 times over the last 12 years. The first 3 times I was excused because of work commitments, the last time I had to sit and wait, selected for the Thursday trials, then got excused because the system was choked up. Two months later ended up in the High Court as a Police witness in a murder trial involving a 2 year old boy. The evil SOB 19 years for that...not nearly enough, but at least it was more than the normal 14.

This is why I was there;
"An electrician contracted by Housing New Zealand to replace smoke alarm batteries arrived soon after and performed CPR on JJ."

A few years ago, I served on a Grand Jury. It was an experience I would do again in a heartbeat. I could write pages of stuff of the cases that were presented to us.

They probably took a look at your avatar pic and thought you had enough problems.
