My 64 Belvedere was a slant 6 car. The K frame I got with the car is a #3466476 (1970 B Body 440 w/skid). Can I use this K frame to install a 440 in my car?

The K frame will bolt up to your 64, but it moves the engine a little to the rear. So that will make you have issues with steering column, headers, and transmission crossmember. My suggestion would be to find a 62-65 B body v8 K frame. I talked to Schumachers several years ago about mounts for a 63 B body 6 cyl to v8 and they said they didn't make anything for this swap. Their suggestion was find a 62-65 v8 K frame.

Yes you can use the k frame. The engine will sit back about 1 3/4 inches, also moves the trans back. Use a conversion trans mount from Schumacher and you'll need 66' and up engine mount, the rubber or poly ones. Steering column is really a non issue, just move it up a tad.

I also heard that you can use 66' and up headers which opens up the possibilities on header choices. Can anyone confirm this? I plan on using the same k-member in my 64'. Rene'

Not to mention that room for the fan and radiator is greatly increased. The early K has poor fan clearance to radiator.

And if you're racing it, there's nothing like moving the engine/trans back for better weight bias. Even one inch makes a noticeable difference.

Oid racer trick works well, may have right rear cyl head and heaterbox/firewall closeness but all okay.

So I am following along with this conversation and have questions...so I have a 62 Dodge with original big block K member......BUT...and stick with me those in the know....I have a 73 B-Body K member, also big block but this 73 donor has all the good bells and whistles, disc brakes and very good sway bar attached..AND given that the 73 has been confirmed over for brake retrofit to the 62 K member but with LIMITS...is it my understanding the very install of the later model would give me those brakes with no real concerns..albeit the concern of a slightly rearward engine mounts..so before addressing the mounts and possible return to stock position in regard tot he firewall...WILL the steering of the 73 K member be of concern when moving the engine ahead to compensate for the 1 1/2 inches? Inquiring minds want to know...I know this addresses multiple question...but I think it may be of benefit to others here at the same time. Just want to weight all options...thanks....

The don't believe the 73 rubber isolated K-Frame will fit,an E-body will. The mounting point are different. It needs to be 72 and earlier

thanks for the clarification...just trying to sort this stuff out is all...I have a couple different parts cars on hand for various donor parts to my older 40's 50's cars and with the recent addition of the 62 and 65 B body..do not want to lose a good swap out component due to my being unfamiliar with the platform..brakes in particular...thanks for the clarification...just trying to sort this stuff out is all...

Thanks for all the info guys. So, as far as bushings and tie rods ect. is everything the same from 64 to 70 other than the idler arm? I am converting to disc brakes so all those parts will be replaced
