hi all,

so i lost my keys for my 66 coronet.

i've been doin laundry like a motha cause i usually find things in the pockets. no this time.

i do have spares but now i want to change out the ignition lock and door locks. i may order a trunck lock too.

here is my question: can a locksmith setup the all locks to be the same?

i've found the locks for sale on amazon. currently on my car, the ignition lock and door locks are keyed the same. if i order an ignition lock and door locks i am thinking they will be keyed differently. i am thinking that each door lock i order will have a different keys from each other as well.

i would like the ignition lock and door locks all to have the same key.

what do you think?

thanks,

watermelon

The lock sets on Amazon and Ebay are all keyed the same. Also Ebay has key blanks cheap. If your locks are good new keys are the way to go. The door locks wont stop a car thief.

A lock smith should have no issue dealing with that but you can just take the locks apart and do it yourself. Only problem is you may not have enough pins to make a combination work. I have done it several times on various cars I owned. Remove the lock cylinder and then the stainless cap that covers the pins and springs. You may want to disassemble this in a big plastic bag in case parts go flying. Once you have the cover off it will be clear on how it works.

Buy an ignition with key ($25 plus shipping), and key your doors to match.

There's post on here with a very good explanation and pics.

You may need to get some junkyard cylinders to get al lthe pins to work.

OTOH, I think you can get a full set of ign, and both door cylinders for about $50 plus shipping.

Most locksmiths are at least $50 an hour.

I used to leave all my 60s and 70s cars unlocked wherever I went because nothing I had inside was worth as much as a window!

You can certainly "hot wire" most 60s cars almost just like they do in the movies!
