Not wanting to hi-jack another thread http://www.forbbodiesonly.com/moparforum/showthread.php?t=7843 I started this one in hopes to make some progress on my 64'

Think I just figured out why my car dosn't kick down, the cables are hooked up a** backwards, the picture below is the set up I have right now, you can see the kickdown linkage and the throttle are hooked up at the same point, throttle opens up, moves backwards, so does the kickdown cable. Which CLOSES the kickdown valve (correct me if I'm wrong)

SO if thats the case the fix should be to move the kickdown linkage 180 degrees opposite to the throttle cable!

Just ordered the Lokar cables and bracket, so maybe I'll have this fix in a week or so!

I know this is a little late, but maybe this will help. The kickdown rod should move back with the opening of the throttle. It should spring forward on it's own when the throttle is closed. If it's not working, check your throttle cable first. Disconnect the kickdwon rod (and make sure the choke is all the way open), then look down the carb with a helper. Have the helper put the pedal to the floor and see if your throttle blades are at WOT. If they aren't adjust the throttle cable holddown so the blades open to WOT with the pedal to the floor. Once that's set, push the kickdown rod all the way back by hand. With the helper holding the pedal to the floor, adjust the kickdown rod so it's just the right length to attach to the ball. Your kickdown should work properly now - and the car should run better, too.
