Am thinking of converting my 66 Belvedere from linkage for the kickdown to the cable option, any learnings or issues with the install/adjustments? It is a Poly with a 727.

Lokar makes a nice piece, and there are a few other companies who also make some cheaper ones. I made my own after studying how everyone else makes them. I used a heater push pull cable and some home made brackets. adjustment was pretty easy, I can also tighten it up to change the shift point.

So you make the kickdown adjustment by moving the cable similar to adjusting the throttle cable on a lawnmower?

I bought the kit from Mancini Racing for my '69 Bee. It's a 440/727. It worked great. The only thing I noticed, it shifts very quickly unless it's at WOT

You're really not supposed to adjust shift points with the kickdown cable. If your shift points are too low, then the cable isn't moving exactly when the throttle moves....

5.2/5.9 Magnum engines use a cable. I have used the setup before. Cost me 11 bucks at the local you pull it junkyard for all the pieces.

Thanks everyone, its getting switched..

I installed a Lokar kit on my 69 Charger and had some clearance issues where the bracket fastened to the tranny (hit the floor) but was easily fixed with a little tweaking.

Installed the Bouchillon Performance kickdown and throttle cable mount on my bird. Works great.

Good luck

I had nothing on it before, when I first installed it it was too tight and held it in gear too long. So I loosened it up and not it shifts perfect.
