When converting my '68 B body from manual drums to manual discs I obviously had to change the master cylinder. As many of you have found out, the original studs were 5/16-18 and some of the newer masters on the market have the mounting holes drilled out too large to accept the original studs.

The car is a stock(ish) restoration and the idea of using bolts was not appealing to me so what I ended up using was wheel studs from an ATV. Polaris # 7518378 is a 3/8-24 x 1.5" stud that works quite well.

You'll need to enlarge the holes in the m/c slightly.

Measure the shoulder of the new stud and drill the m/c .005" smaller

The bottom two holes in the bracket/firewall/pedal assembly are large enough already.

The top two holes will need to be opened up a little. I went to .380 for ease of installation.

I painted the heads black and while they may not be Roger Gibson approved, the look a helluva lot better than bolts.

Cheers

I used to put a thin copper shim around the spines on those before I switched over to the aluminum masters. Worked good enough, but I like your solution better.
