I want to pass on my experience with buying some parts from Layson's Restorations, who are one of our site sponsors. I was looking for a new gas tank, sending unit, retaining strap, J-bolt and tar paper top pad for my 63 Fury. I went to Layson's site first because they are sponsors. I then checked with several other vendors to compare prices. What I found was that nobody else I checked had all the parts in stock. The cheaper sites didn't say where the tanks were made, where as Layson's promoted that their tanks were made in Canada and had a really good corrosion protection. I ordered from Layson's and had the parts in my hands within a week of ordering. They were in perfect condition, and even though the sender was made in China, it works well. Good information to have if you're in the market.
Thanks, Rick for being an A-1 vendor.

I bought some stuff from them at the MATS in 2012. I know for some reason they get a bad rap every now and again, I know the stories but the past is the past. I'm not sure who the guy was in the tent working, whether he was the owner or not but he was really nice, gave my daughter a hot wheel (Mopar of course), and gave me a military discount. They are alright in my book.

I blew the P/S hose on my '66 Coronet on the way to MATS. Laysons had one in stock (at the tent) and it was cheap. Made my wife's weekend.

I bought stuff from Layson's and had a good experience.
Thanks for posting.

I would. If they don't have it someone will at a big show like that, I'm assuming you are referring to the Carlisle show. Save the shipping plus some vendors give special show pricing.

If you're going to Carlisle you might want to contact them and have them bring the tank there. Most vendors have no problems doing that.

Thanks!!! for the kind words guys! It's nice to hear that all of our efforts here are appreciated, and we appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you. I will pass these good words along to my fellow employees and Dave.

In regards to bringing certain parts to the shows....sometimes this is possible with smaller itmes, but not so much with the bigger stuff like fuel tanks and sheetmetal. The reason is this, our show truck is kept in a storage facility between shows and almost never makes it back here to our warehouse. So any parts that we may bring to a show would have to be the kind you could pack into luggage and bring on a plane. Unfortunately, fuel tanks and sheet metal don't fall into that category.

I tried to give a "Thanks!" to you coloradodave...but it's not showing up.

I too have bought from Laysons - wheel openin gmoldings sets. I am trying to remember how I paid for the items, and how I was able to oreder them in th efirst place.
I can say this - if a vendor offers Paypal, or Credit Card options, and an email ordering service, the process of buying over the net is a whole bunch easier.

In the old days of ordering parts, I had to use a fax (remember those) and many phone calls, then get a bank transfer (time-consuming and expensive), and then hope that after 6 months of waiting for a parcel by boat, that the stuff I ordered was correct.....forget about returns, that wasn't going to happen.

I do hope to buy some more from Layson's real soon. :headbang:
