My 66 Satellite was in indoor storage over the winter. I went and visited it (and started it) a couple of times. The last time I was there I noticed a pool of fluid under the car that wasn't there the last time I started it, about two weeks prior. The storage place is kind of dark so I couldn't really investigate it at the time. I went there today, with proper lighting and checked it out. It turns out to be coolant and, upon investigation, my radiator was empty. I'm not sure what happened though. The puddle was under the right side of the engine, not under the radiator. Any ideas where the leak my have originated? Or why the fluid leaked out while in storage, at least I don't think it all leaked out when I started it.

Most likley:yes:

Thanks guys, that hadn't occurred to me only because I had checked the fluids before I parked her for the winter. Maybe it corroded like in the photo, I'll check it out and give you an update. Thanks again!

Replace the freeze plugs with brass plugs and rememebr to change the coolant every 2 years and use a coolant tester. Do not use straight coolant. 50/50 for most climates.

Ordered some brass plugs. It turns out there are two corroded plugs. I'm hoping I can replace them without pulling the engine. Looks like it will be hard to do though.

There is actually a tool for installing them. Kinda looks like the one used to install cam bearings. Sure makes replacing that one on the passenger's side near the motor mount easier to do.

I'll have to look for the tool unless I can use my bearing tool. I noticed when I was under the car that the plug near the mount would be a pain to get to. I'm glad it was okay, or at least looked okay.

I just use a big socket with or without an extension depending on available space.Does not take alot of effort to install.
