Yeah - thought he had passed on too. Suppose I was thinking of James Brown. Reading a story about his life was surprised he reached the fame he did as none of his famous songs hit above #6 and his rock days were pretty much over by geez 1958! And lol, Pat Boone recorded a couple of his songs and reached a tad higher on the charts. Old Pat recorded a few Elvis tunes, just slower: "You...ain't...nothing...but...a...hound......dog..." He painfully slowed that tune up to the likes of Ed Sullivan and the oldsters back when who thought rock 'n roll was evil.

Did you ever hear the heavy metal album that Pat Boone did? It’s called In a Metal Mood. It’s awesome! I have it. He took a bunch of metal classics and put his spin on them. You can’t take it seriously, he didn’t but he did a good job. I saw him on some talk show years ago. Some talking head from the far right Christian side was attempting to tear him a new one for doing the devils music. He gets exasperated and tells them to lighten up. Was a cool exchange.

Many great songs from my generation, may he RIP.

RIP Richard, sad day for oldies rock & roll

Haven't heard it - Pat always seemed like a nice person - clean as Kleenex - deeply faithful - calm sort and could make fun of himself. Sure can't ka-nock him. And back to the point, hope LR is in a better place.
On a side note, I sort of got away from the steadfast RIP wishes while certainly the correct and best wishes for those who've passed on. Reason is I've presented a few eulogies for great friends and relatives, difficult as this was, and while prepping the speech reflecting on their lives, the last thing I figured they wanted was to 'rest'! They had been super active accomplishing great things in their workshops and other interests and never relished just sitting around. So as I remember saying at my father-in-law's wake, I hope his acquired skills in life are now being tapped somewhere where he is now again capable as he once was. My dad was the same way; never happy unless doing some neat things in his workshop...and helping his kids!

Some may not know that Jimi Hendrix played in his band for a while.
